Breast augmentation |
Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement surgery, enhances the size of breasts using gell-filled or inflatable saline-filled implants.
Incisions can be made either in the crease where the breast meets the chest, around the areola, or in the armpit. You'll discuss the options with our plastic surgeon prior to surgery.
Although the USA national average of breast surgeons’ fees is between $3,000 and $4,000, this does not reflect the full amount a patient is likely to pay. This figure includes the cost of breast implants themselves and their placement, but not the anesthesia, medical facility fee, prescriptions, surgical garments, medical testing, or any other charges related to pre- and post-operative care. Cosmetic surgeons, surgical facilities, and anesthesiologists in larger cities or more affluent neighborhoods are likely to charge more for their services. Finally, every breast enhancement procedure is unique and there are a variety of factors that will influence the breast augmentation surgery cost, including the type of implant chosen, the way it is placed, and the level of complexity presented by the particular case.
Risks & complications of breast augmentation
We do our best to minimise the risks by choosing the high-standard hospitals, experienced plastic surgeons, physicians and nurses. However, complications still rarely happen.
Possible complications from breast augmentation are:
- deflation of inflatable saline-filled implants
- the formation of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture), which may cause the breast to feel tight or hard
- bleeding or infection
- increase or decrease in sensitivity of nipples or breast skin, occasionally permanent.
Recovery
Typical instructions for breast augmentation recovery include limiting
movement and getting plenty of rest. Any activity that involves lifting,
bending, or straining should be avoided, as it can increase pain
and soreness and delay healing.
Patients can usually return to work after one week, provided that their jobs do not require heavy lifting or other strenuous activities. In general, patients who receive subglandular breast implant placement requires less breast augmentation recovery time than patients who receive submuscular breast implant placement.
Recommended length of vacation after breast augmentation surgery
7 - 10 days after surgery.
